and i'm back.

From Alt Design Summit, that is. As I mentioned, it was a truly marvelous experience, and I cannot wait until next year. The above photograph is from the oh-so fabulous Kate Spade suite party, where the lovely Megan of not martha posed with me in Angela + Ithyle's photobooth. So much fun, I tell you.

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend- now onto the week!

alt summit.

Good afternoon, readers! I hope you are all enjoying your 3-day weekend. I just wanted to mention that tomorrow I will be heading off to Alt Design Summit and couldn't be more excited! I will be speaking/moderating a panel on Big Creative Companies & Social Media with some fabulous folks from Martha Stewart and Dwell Studio. I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of design/lifestyle bloggers attending and cannot wait to meet each and every one of them. If you will be attending, let me know- see you there!

ten images of inspiration : random bits of beauty.

Goodness, what is going on here? Every year, while back home in Los Angeles, I have all sorts of trouble posting on here. Not only do I have very limited access to a computer (it's true: I still don't own a laptop), but the chaos of the holidays becomes all too time-consuming and overwhelming. Please believe me when I say this though: come the end of the week, when I am back home in rainy Portland, posting will be constant. For now though, I am going to do what I can. Today? Random bits of beauty from some truly talented photographers. And one more thing: I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

on to december.

How is it we are already three days into December? The past few months have gone by all to quickly- I suppose this is just a part of getting older. Anyways, I hope you all have a lovely almost-winter weekend!

giving thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I just wanted to pop in and wish all of you (even the ones not in the states) a fabulous day. Thank you for being a truly amazing group of readers and for all the continuous support. Now go eat until your stomach explodes!

little winter.

Good afternoon! Let me tell you, I had a lovely weekend. Little Winter was such a beautiful and inspiring event. It was just so wonderful to get to meet artists and bloggers that I deeply admire and see their work in person. Abby and Chelsea did a truly amazing job with putting the entire event together. I felt grateful to be able to attend and help out- good job to everyone involved!

I brought two of my film cameras and couldn't stop snapping photos, some of which can be seen above. You can view other people's photographs, as well as my own (which I plan to keep adding throughout the next couple of days), in the Little Winter Flickr group. Enjoy!

arden wray.

First of all, I am quite sorry for the quiet on here the past few days. Halloween weekend was darn busy, especially with one of my closest friends in town, and yesterday I needed a whole day to actually get some rest. But now I am feeling much better and more alert, so bring on the rest of the week!

Second, how lovely are these photographs by Arden Wray for Victoire's Fall/Winter collection? So soft and pretty, and that model has that oh-so-charming Zooey thing going on.

weekend.

Wow, the weekend really snuck up on me this time. It has been a very long, hectic day, which means it's been rather quiet here, but I wanted to wish you all a fantastic weekend. Here's to mild days, good friends, and relaxation!

flickr photo of the day : a thank you...

...to all my truly wonderful guest bloggers this week (including Heather, who took the above photo). You ladies made my time away a whole lot easier. Thank you.

I have boated from Maui to Lanai, where I am now with my family up in the Hawaiian mountains and country, surrounded by horses, lakes, and stunning gardens. Tomorrow will be our last full day on the islands, then home to Portland we go on Sunday.

It's been a grand vacation and I hope everyone has had a wonderful week, as well as a great weekend ahead. See you Monday!

greetings...

...from Hawaii! I have had much less internet access than anticipated (none, to be exact), so I am dreadfully sorry for the silence. I am, however, enjoying myself a whole lot, spending all my days here laying on the beach, swimming in the ocean, eating tropical fruit, taking photos, and drinking too many fruity cocktails. I can't really complain.

Anyways, as previously mentioned, I have a slew of awesome guest bloggers joining us this week, starting with the ever-so lovely Jan. Enjoy- and I hope you all are having a fabulous week!

thought of the day : au revoir.

"Bon Voyage" by Aino Sal.

And so, we're off to the tropics. I should be back posting before the week is through. So long!

ten images of inspiration : sun and sea.

Firstly, I must apologize for the lack of posts this week. I have been crazy busy getting ready for ten days of what this post revolves around: sun and sand. Yes, tomorrow my family and I are heading off to Maui and let me tell you- I'm quite ready for a vacation.

I will still be posting as much as I can when I get the opportunity, but since I cannot commit to frequent updates, there will be many lovely guest bloggers joining in on here. I am quite excited to have them.

Sandy beaches, I'm ready for you.

on to the weekend...

It is late and I am quite tired, but I wanted to wish you all a lovely weekend! I will be camping in our beautiful Northwest scenery in the company of good friends, spending time with my toes in the river. What about you?

hello weekend.

Ah, I'm glad the weekend is finally here. It's been a rather tough week, so I am looking forward to spending time with friends and just lounging around the house. And baking, something with chocolate and peanut butter perhaps?

What are your plans for the weekend? I always like to hear.

happy weekend.

My, what a busy week it was. I'm sorry if posts weren't as frequent as usual, but my dear cousin was town, so we were out exploring farms, rose gardens, waterfalls, and the local pubs (of course.) And this weekend I will be celebrating my birthday. I really do adore the summertime.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

monday morning music : fools rush in.

Good morning friends. Oh, what a weekend. I celebrated my birthday quite early with my mom, who was visiting from Los Angeles, with plenty of amazing cocktails here and then had a lovely 4th of July picnic on the lawn of our home (with plenty of sweet tea and classic barbecue food.) Sadly though, that evening ended in catastrophe, with my husband breaking and dislodging his collarbone- I won't go into the details, but it occurred during a very silly game of baseball at the park. Poor guy- it doesn't look like he's going to be enjoying himself much this summer.

On a more cheerful note though, I thought I'd share some music today from She & Him, who I have been listening to nonstop lately (perfect summertime music, really.) Zooey's voice always give me goosebumps and manages to brighten my days. Plus, I have always adored "Fools Rush In," so having them do a cover of it makes it all the nicer.

happy 4th.

Ah, it's weekend time! I will be taking Monday off to enjoy the coast again, but I hope you all have an amazing weekend and holiday (for all you fellow Americans out there)!

thought of the day : adoration.

"J'adore," a card design, as seen in Clare Owen's Flickr stream.

Oh, what a weekend. We celebrated one of my best friend's birthdays in the best ways- tattoos, a great concert, a trip to the coast with my favorite people, an all-day picnic at one of Portland's best parks, and a slew of photobooth pictures. Let me tell you, it was perfect.

Now onto the week!
